My random thoughts

This is being penned down after a lot of thought and this is only because of the talk I had with one of my dearest friend. The whole conversation was about how we have evolved as people. Starting from 18 year old girls to now 24 year old women, the transformation has been nothing short of being amazing. However, this change was not without fear. We were quite scared of who we were becoming, but then again, we fear what we do not know and this case, we happened to be our own enemy.

This post is for others to read and feel better about any transformation they are undergoing and know that you are not alone. This phase usually lasts as long as you want it to, but it all depends on the acceptance that comes from you as a person. There are signs of identifying the changes that you are going through.

  1. You like doing everything yourself. This phase usually begins, “relax, I got this”. You prefer not relying on other people for your work because you know the only person you need to depend on is YOU.
  2. You are able to self monitor. You know exactly how you feel and why you feel the way you feel. You also acknowledge that you have issues with trusting people, you know your own temperament and what your fears are. This is when you start giving your best in looking for the missing jigsaw piece.
  3. You tend to cut off unnecessary people and it hurts you. You have lost some of the people closest to you, but with time you realize that cutting them off serves you better emotionally and mentally.
  4. You tend not to trust people because you have a low tolerance of everyone’s daily dose of drama. You’ve been hurt, betrayed by people you always considered close to you. This is why you tend to have less friends but loyal ones because you learnt to trust again.
  5. You always feel the need to “do more” in life. You also know that you wouldn’t want it any other way. There is always a “to-do” list for you every time you cross off an achievement.
  6. You acknowledge the sadness, but do not let it linger. The best part about growing up is that you know life is not always a bed of roses and that life has given you lemons. You also know that you have always managed to turn it into lemonade.
  7. You find yourself running out of time. ALWAYS. You know you have the drive to succeed and that is what keeps you going.

Know that the changes you are going through will make you, YOU. It all depends on how well you take the stages of becoming a butterfly from a caterpillar. Enjoy the journey and remember that you are so equipped and blessed to do whatever you want to in life. This phase does not need to last long. It all begins with a simple word: Acceptance.

So, cheers to you and your transformation!

How to hustle harder

Motivation is like bathing, which is why it is recommended daily.

This post comes out after a thought process because I know it is not easy to stay motivated or even close to staying motivated for that long. But you should know something, you are not alone. There are people like you who run out of motivation to achieve all their goals and aspirations in life. I know I am one of them, it keeps happening with me. So, what do I do when the road seems never-ending? Always keep in mind that it is not always about the destination, but always about your journey. The journey that shapes you for who you are today and that is something that I’ve learnt over the years. The only reason I feel like that is that your destination keeps changing from time to time. It always is the best to move when you know you are getting comfortable with where you are. Life is always about challenging yourself and pushing yourself harder to do better than what you did yesterday. This is why I am listing the top 6 ways to stay motivated in everything that you do:

  1. Write down what you want to achieve: Personally, one of my favourite methods of staying motivated. I find it extremely helpful to write down what I really really want to achieve because it helps me stay strong towards the goal that I decide. Not only does this help you keep track of what you want, reviewing it once a day helps you realign your focus. This will only work if you have a plan of action in mind. It also helps to keep achievable targets because if you keep something unrealistic, you tend to lose the steam you built up because you now realise that the aim was too big without any blueprint in place.
  2. Push aside negative thoughts: The biggest culprit of all times. We always have the anxiety of failing and end up with thoughts like, “will I be able to do it?”, “is this the right thing to aim for?”, “should I re-adjust my focus?” and a whole lot of negativity. Remember this: whether you think you are capable or not, both times you are right. You and only you are the best judges of whether what you have set are realistic expectations. However, it does not mean you give up completely and put your hands up. The best way to go about this is acknowledging your negativity but do not ever let it consume you. Always keep in mind that you get what you put into the universe. Raise your vibration and get back to work. You are the captain of your own ship. Steer in the right direction.
  3. Use mistakes as stepping stones: Many of us are afraid of committing mistakes only because we think that our mistakes define us. This is how mistakes should not be interpreted, they should be seen as a stepping stone to success. Make mistakes (not intentionally) to understand how you could better yourself for the future.
  4. Break your big chunks into manageable work: The worst thing you could ever do is think you can handle your biggest chunks of work effortlessly. I used to do it until I realised that it was the most foolish thing to do. It is not advisable since you lose the will to do it faster unless you break work into small pieces that you pace out properly.
  5. Surround yourself with positive people: This does not need an explanation. Surround yourself with people who motivate you to do the best you can. ALWAYS WORKS!
  6. Dress for success: Most forget this. Do not dress for the job you have but the one you want. Never underestimate the power of dressing well and looking professional. Take pride in the way you look, you start feeling better on your own. Dressing well is a power in itself.

Always remember, keep hustling harder to achieve what you want to achieve, dreams never come true unless you work towards them.
